Texas US-54
New eastbound lanes built in the Oklahoma panhandle.

Scope of Work
J&R constructed new eastbound lanes and rehabbed the existing westbound lanes of US-54 east of Tyrone, Oklahoma, extending to the Kansas state line. Crews placed 86,890 tons of asphalt on a $15.3 million contract. The project ran from April 2023 through June 2024.
The elevations between the existing westbound lanes and the new westbound lanes did not tie together as designed. Through J&R survey and design efforts, the team determined the necessary mill and paving thicknesses, as well as the cross-slope rotation, to eliminate the elevation difference between the two surfaces.
This project was the final section of US-54 to complete the four-lane across the Oklahoma panhandle. It ties into the Kansas portion of US-54 that was completed by J&R Sand in 2007, closing out a corridor J&R helped build across two states.
