What started with a couple trucks and a sand pit has turned into a trusted name in paving. Some of our crew members are second—and third generation—because around here, we work hard, we work together, and we take pride in every mile we pave.

The Carlile Legacy
Founded in the 1950s as J&R Sand, our roots run deep in Western Kansas. What began with a couple of trucks and a sand pit has grown into a trusted name in paving across the region.
1959
Established 1959 by Jack, Bob and William Carlile as "Carlile Sand Products."
1968
Company's name is changed to "J&R Sand Company."
1982
J&R vertically integrates into asphalt production and paving, completing jobs for both OK and KS DOTs.
1989
J&R completes it's first major project for Haskell County, KS and establishes itself as a signifcant contractor in OK and KS.
1998
Bob and Sue's four sons become stockholders in J&R, transitioning company to next generation of growth.
2005
J&R purchases it's third asphalt plant to support expansion of the paving business.
2006-2020
J&R completes a range of large, notable, projects to continue its success.
2021
Todd and Kelly Carlile become sole owners.
2023
J&R completes the largest project in Company history, The US Hwy 83 Rehabilitation.
2024—Present
J&R joins the Legacy Infrastructure Group Family of Companies and rebrands to J&R Constructors.
