Clark & Meade US-160
Mill and overlay on US-160 east of Meade, Kansas.

Scope of Work
J&R completed a 0.5-inch mill and 1.5-inch overlay across 17.4 miles of US-160 east of Meade, Kansas. Crews placed 21,078 tons of asphalt on a $3.3 million contract.
The project was originally scheduled for completion in 2024 but was pushed into 2025 due to delays on other jobs running concurrently. Rather than let the existing pavement deteriorate over winter, J&R elected to patch problem areas in November 2024 to carry the project through to spring. The full mill and overlay was completed in March and April 2025.
The work spanned both Clark and Meade counties under two KDOT project numbers, KA 7095-01 and KA 7096-01. The mid-project decision to patch problem areas before winter is the kind of judgment call that keeps long stretches of road serviceable while a job is in progress.
